The snowmares have a tradition of building large "snow ponies" near the borders of their villages, once the heaviest winter snows have fallen.
Some of the tribe take these very seriously, believing the sculptures come to life at night and guard the sleeping village from danger. Personally, I think the foals just enjoy competing against each other to see who can carve out the scariest face.
