Grandpa Gideon is an old Griffon from Griffinstone and one of Grandpa Gruff's best friends, along with the other elders of Griffinstone. He's also the grandfather of Gupu and her two brothers, Goom and Geem, and father of the triplets' mother. Even though he's an elder Griffon, he loves doing extreme sports, especially roller skating. Whenever someone tells him that maybe he's too old for that kind of things, he always reply "You're never 'too old' for excitement!". Gallus says he reminds him a lot of two of his Professors, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. This old Griffon also used to be the very first Griffon Wonderbolt in all Equestrian History (there are scars from lightning bolts on his tail and left arm) but after he retired, he asked the academy not to mention anything about him, due to wanting to distance himself from the spotlight. Since has experience with storm clouds and the weather, Griffons always put him in charge of the weather duties, like scheduled storms or Winter Wrap Up. However, in spite of his high energy and personality, he never forgets that he's an elder, knows when he needs to be serious (especially when his friends and family are concerned) and where he should have limits. He's a very supportive friend with a good heart and is always there when in need.
