> It started as a competition. Another Iron Pony competition to see who was #1. Applejack and Rainbow asked Twilight to judge.

> Twilight agreed, but with one provision: the two had to wear a set of goggles she was working on. She said they had a built-in camera to make sure that neither of them tried to cheat.
>
> Both agreed and the contest soon started, a 100 meter dash. A cinch for Rainbow Dash, it was in her name after all!

> The horn blew and the two were off. Dash had this handily in the bag when she caught a glare on her goggles. It tripped her up and slowed her down, enough for Applejack to run by and win.
>
> Dash protested this, blaming the goggles, but when the footage was reviewed, Twilight said nothing was wrong and Dash lost.
>
> The next event was a tug of war. Applejack was sure to take this one as well. The two met at the rope and began to pull. A sudden dizziness overtook Applejack and her grip slacked, pushing her over the line and losing. Another review said nothing was to blame.

> Several more rounds went like this, each time one or both of the competitors getting dizzy, losing focus or otherwise seeming out of place.

> "Look, you both need to just focus" Twilight said after the protests and complaints from the two. "I'm the judge after all, you have to listen to me."
>
> So the two buckled down. "Focus, keep attention and listen to Twilight." They repeated this for the events, each one going better and better as they narrowed their vison and knew when to listen.
>
> A while later, Twilight called them over. "You're both drenched." she said, the sweat dripping off both mares' clothing. "Go change, I brought a new set for each of you."
>
> Rainbow Dash and Applejack both took the clothes and put them on. "Listen to Twilight, after all." The two emerged, wearing from the neck down black skintight bodysuits.

> A few more events happened, seemingly in the blink of an eye, Rainbow Dash and Applejack too focused to notice. Twilight called them over again.
>
> "We're going to ratchet up the events some. Go change your shoes" Twilight said and the two moved off. The shoes weren't like any normal shoes, more like high heel hooves than anything else, but the two listened to Twilight and put them on.
>
> So more of the competition and still the two were at it, so focused on it that neither even knew the score.

> "Come over here, you two" Twilight called out, Applejack and Rainbow Dash listening. "Stick out your hands, I want to put these on them." She held out a pair of odd mittens.

> Not questioning it, the two stuck their hands out while Twilight put each of them on. Once on, their hands were utterly useless, trapped in a black hoof with no real grip. They were about to ask about that when Twilight called them back to the field and the two jumped right back into the games.
>
> The time flowed like nothing. There could have been one game, no game or every game but Applejack and Rainbow Dash didn't seem to care. Just focused. Focused and listening to Twilight.

> "Over here and at attention" Twilight said, no more like commanded. But they marched over and stood for Twilight.
>
> "Training has come along swimmingly" Twilight beamed. Training? What was that? They were competing, weren't they? "But there's one more thing left to do."
>
> Using her magic, Twilight lifted Rainbow Dash and Applejack's hair, pulling it gently into a tight ponytail on top of their heads, wrapping the base up. As she did so, Twilight took Applejack's hat and put it on her head. Twilight then levitated over two masks. They were black blank horse masks.

> "Now good horses like you need to look the part, don't they?" Twilight smirked.
>
> "Yes, Twilight" the two said blankly, so at attention on Twilight to not even think about what was being said.
>
> "Wonderful" Twilight said. "I'm going to put these on you, but while I do so, I want you to repeat the phrase 'Horsey neighs. Horsey obeys', ok?"
>
> "Horsey neighs. Horsey obeys" the two droned on. "Horsey neighs. Horsey obeys. Horsey neighs. Horsey obeys. Horsey neighs. Horsey obeys."
>
> The hoods were lowered over their heads, the rubber sticking to their skin as it was dragged down over them, lenses meeting their eyes, mouth meeting muzzle.
>
> As they chanted, the rubber gripped their throats, making it harder and harder to talk, but still they continued. "Horsey neighs. Horesy obeys. Horsey neighs. Neigh obeys. Horsey neighs. Horsey neigh. Neigh neigh. Horsey neigh. Neigh neigh. Neigh neigh. Neigh neigh. Neigh neigh." Soon the two were doing nothing but grunting and neighing.

> "Stop repeating" Twilight ordered and the two latex horses obeyed. "Now you two look like proper horses" she giggled to herself. "But let's put you through your paces. Rainbow Dash, prance!" Twilight commanded.

> "Neigh" came from Rainbow's snout as she leapt up and started to prance around the field. She had to, she needed to. She had to focus, listen to Twilight. After all, horsey neighs, horsey obeys. She neighed, she obeyed, she was a good horsey as she galloped around the field.
>
> "Rainbow, stop," Twilight said and Rainbow obeyed. "Applejack, tell me you're a dumb little horse who's finally learned to obey."
>
> "I'm a dumb little horse who's learned to obey," was what Applejack tried to say but all that came out was "Neigh neigh neigh neigh neigh neigh."
>
> "Good horsey" Twilight said, patting Applejack's rubber head. "But those names, a bit clunky, don't you think?" she said as she only got neighs in response.
>
> "So, looking over the chart, it seems like Rainbow, you were just a hair faster in obeying, so you get to be Horsey 1. Applejack, you will be Horsey 2." The two horses neighed in reply.
>
> "Now, lets test this. Horsey 1, stamp your hoof." Horsey 1 stamped her hoof as ordered.
>
> "Horsey 2, turn around and shake your butt for me." Horsey 2 turned and shook her ass, uncaring about what or why she was doing so, just that she was obeying.
>
> "OK, stop" Twilight said chuckling, as Horsey 2 stopped. "Now then, horses, follow me." The two marched in lockstep behind Twilight as she led them to a shed.
>
> Inside the shed was an old wooden cart. "Line up and let me tie you up." She commanded. Horsey 1 and Horsey 2 moved and obeyed, Twilight harnessing them to the cart. She climbed aboard.
>
> "Now then, my obedient little ponies, mush!" Twilight ordered.
>
> Horsey 1 and Horsey 2 moved into action, their harnesses pulling the cart along with them as they moved out, the two horses now only thinking one thing: Horsey neighs. Horsey obeys.
