Just wanted to draw/write a sad one-shot about Jazz and Rocky. Inspired on the fact I may not upload any more images of him


Jazz couldn’t believe it. Her friend… Rocky… was gone. It had only been a day or two, but it felt longer. It was a slow day at the salon, thankfully the customers were being patient. They were aware of the incident after all, it would have been rude to rush Jazz and Pipp at a time like this. As Jazz walked over to a table to grab the hoof polish to use for a customer, she noticed something shining on the ground. A feather. Golden, shiny and glittering in the sunlight that peeked through a crack in the curtains.

Jazz trembled slightly as she picked up the feather. It was one of Rocky’s, no mistake. Must have fallen off his wing a few days ago and went unnoticed until now. The feather was not damaged, despite being on the ground with the risk of being stepped on. As Jazz stood sat there, she was reminded of him. She unable to stop the tears. Her heart ached as she carefully held the feather as tears fell from her eyes.

Why did this have to happen? She would never feel his soft fur, hear his voice ever again. She loved his skills, she loved the way his wings shimmered in the light. But mostly, she adored how much of a kind and caring pony he was, much kinda than many other ponies of her kind, earth ponies.

It was too soon for him to go…

“R-Rocky…” She said softly. Gently holding the feather. Not wanting the damage possibly the last bit of him. She could not believe it, he was gone like that. One mistake… Meant losing a close friend. This grief was painful, a pain she wished no other pony would have to go through.


A flashback of that incident flashed through her mind.

It was supposed to be a nice day out on the mountain. For a walk… If only they didn’t go…

“Jazz!” Rocky cried out, “Look out!”

“Ah!” Screamed Jazz as Rocky pushed her out the way of danger. Only for him to be… crushed by rocks…

“Rocky!? Where are you!? Rocky!?” Jazz desperately cried. Digging through the rocks. Using her earth pony magic. “No, Rocky! Get up! Please! Rocky, no no no! Stay with me, Rocky!”


It was still clear for Jazz. Tears went down her cheeks. The yelling, the cries… If it weren’t for Rocky then… she wouldn’t be here, would she? The rescue team and doctors came quickly to take him to the hospital, they wasted no time. But he had lost a lot of blood…

Jazz was angry at herself, for letting it happen. It should have been her! She couldn’t believe she agreed with Rocky on going for a walk on the edge of Zephyr Height’s mountain.

There was a list of other things they could have done! Like going to the beach, hiking in the woods, gone to Bridlewood and tried some of Alphabittle’s tea, or explored the crystals. They could have gone sailing, to the pool… the list was nearly endless!

But Rocky suggested to go on the new walk trail that opened up on the Zephyr Heights mountain. “C’mon Jazz. I heard the view’s great!”

Why did she agree?

Even if they were a few minutes later or earlier, he would still be here. Maybe if she was paying more attention to the cliffs near them instead of the view, he would still be here… She hated the trail now, she hated it! It didn’t end well at all, it killed Rocky! Rocky was gone because of that! She couldn’t help but hate what she had done!

She wanted him back.

Well. He wasn’t dead… Yet. She wanted Rocky to be okay, she wanted him back. Hopefully the doctors could save him… But they said it themselves… The chance of him surviving… Was low.
