Happy holidays everypony! Darkblaze here with my surprisingly first Christmas holiday-themed artwork released around the Christmas holiday! This is actually a piece of cover art released for my latest fanfic “Sandy Hooves and “Sea”-sons Greetings” This story, requested by user publiq as part of this year’s Jinglemas event on FIMfiction, features the lovably wall-eyed mailmare Derpy Hooves catching some fun in the sun for this year’s Hearth’s Warming holiday.

Overall I’m pleased with how both the fanfic and this art piece turned out. I wanted to go for a simple, line-less, more iconographic aesthetic with some details for embellishment and to help the scene come alive a bit more. I went back and forth for so long on whether or not to keep or remove the snow clumps on the wreath, but in hindsight I’m glad I kept it to help with the juxtaposition of the whole “Christmas on the beach” kind of vibe featured in the story.
