And there's more! Actual strong female roles didn't appear until the mid 50's, and we still had to wait for the rebranding in the 80's to become the female centric series we know now.

The 40's style one could be better. The idea was to mix a generic Disney style with the cartoony proportions of Warner Bros and MGM Cartoons.
I later expanded this concept with the presence of a series of three cartoons from the 30's, one of them lost, with a flapper pony named Marey Maiden (obvious reference is obvious).
Also, Alternate MLP Animation History. You don't get much crazier than that.
