A warm summer evening descends on the town of Trottingham. In spite of its remote location deep within County Shire, it is a historic tourist town with ponies from miles around travelling to visit its ancient castle, picturesque woodland and lake as well as a thriving shopping district, and the easiest way for these ponies to travel there is via the Trottingham Vale Light Railway. At the head of the train the locomotive quietly simmers, its crew tending to the fire and having a cup of tea as they await the call for departure. Tourists, travellers, businessponies and families all bundle into the little carriages, settling into their seats ready for the journey ahead and getting acquainted with those in their compartments. The guard checks that everyone is properly seated, locks the full carriages and goes to await any last minute stragglers. The Station Master double checks his watch against the station clock. Only minutes remain before the last train heads home…
