This fine yak specimen, Yakta, is a student at the School of Friendship, and the bearer of the Element of Compassion. However, she's not the only one… You see, the hands of fate have paired this laid-back, surprisingly insightful yak with a feisty kirin named Maple Taiga. They are the truest of friends, having an unbreakably strong relationship despite the fact that they're really just schoolfriends. Perhaps the both of them were chosen as the two Element of Compassion bearers — of course being the only two people EVER (in the same period of time, maybe) to wield the same Element, by the way — simply because they're inseparable from each other. Could the two of them maybe have something more than just a friendship? …Maybe? They're both very lax, and it's because they're… simply put: kinda dumb. Yakta, admittedly, has her moments of occasionally shockingly good insight into situations, but the both of them enjoy thinking simply, and choose not to realize how they probably should be considering becoming fiancés at this point… Oh, and also, Yakta's the daughter of… checks MLP Wiki …S07E11 Unnamed Yak #1.
