Queen Aurelia leads the Aurelia Swarm, one of many separate swarms of changelings under their own respective Queens. Far more ancient than any other Changeling Queen alive, at over five hundred years old, Aurelia is an isolationist Queen, desiring only minimal contact with the rest of the world, and only sending out enough infiltrators to meet the Love requirements of her relatively small swarm.

Princess Black Wisp stands in sharp contrast to her. Young, uncertain, but willing to think that there is a better way forward than either Chrysalis's madness or Aurelia's isolationism, Wisp thinks that the future of their kind lies in meeting on equal terms with ponykind, despite the latter's prejudice against changelings.

Renaulta serves as the chief engineer of the Aurelia Swarm, responsible for a number of technological advancements in the Hive Under The Mountain. She is also notable for having studied Equestrian locomotive designs, using them to produce an armored vehicle for helping to secure the thousands of miles of underground tunnels around their Hive.
