Oof. I work on this painting occasionally, but I think I've ultimately given up on it. It depicts some alternate Equestrian history-the brutal assassination of Princess Celestia by the mad queen Nightmare Moon. I've always envisioned something very different from the battles we see in MLP. I've always thought a fight between the alicorns would be downright vicious, with savage kicking and trampling with their hooves, trying to gore one another with their horns, and burning each other with blasts of magic and lightning.
