Emerald says that he wish he could just live life the way he wanted, but his step-parents are making that impossible. What's more, his step-parents captured members from the Order of the Arrow, and seem to be summoning demons, which is surely bad for everyone, isn't it?
"To be honest, from what I've seen you do so far you aren't even trying to live your life the way you wanted, though I guess I don't watch you 24/7. From everything I've seen so far it's been gathering whatever power you can just in the hopes that it'll be useful for taking your step parents out later. So let me ask you, what is the point of that? Do you even know what you want to do with your life if you were completely free? I suggest you think of the answers to these questions lil' perv, because they ain't going to answer themselves. As for your other statement, we'd know if they were summoning demon or demons powerful enough to be a threat."
There is a protracted silence after these words, at which point Emerald asks what it's like to kill a pony.
Joyride let's out a laugh and turns to Emerald asking, "Well that was sudden. Why do you ask?"
Emerald says that with the pirate conflict coming up and considering how he is trying to get back at his step parents that maybe… One day… H-he might have to…
"Look. It's easy to kill a person as long as you don't think about it too hard. If you start to empathize, then you start to create problems. Don't look at what you are trying to kill as a living thing. If you can't do that, just remember that it is an enemy. An enemy that is very likely out to kill you as well, so you better strike first. Do it quick before you think about it. Kill first and think of the ramifications later." Joyride says, surprisingly chipper despite the coldness of her words.
Emerald swallows and gives a shiver at this statement.
