And on top of that's all the bad blood, because the "Pinkie Pies" diving into spoilers are justifiably frustrated with the others, who take that precious moment of shared excitement away by refusing to look at spoilers. The "Gildas" hanging on for dear life are justifiably frustrated, with the fragmenting of their fandom, and the furious insistence of their fellow fans, trying to spoil it for them.
So leaks make fandoms fade away. It's okay though. We were already dumb enough to rally around the product of a private corporation, sabatoging any community we form by giving the company total ownership of everything we do. Maybe fandoms should be destroyed, since they're created by the corporate mind control marketing overriding our ability to make friends and find inspiration, replacing it with their own characters, trademarks and brand names.
Still it's… awfully lonely not being able to find anyone who cares about ponies. And they really have no right to claim to own an idea that so many people love. Why should we only get the shit ideas, and let corporations get all the amazing ones, by warping our legal systems into the delusion that ideas are commodities, and thoughts are crimes?
If only we could have the beauty and the wonder, without the corporate marketing chained to it, dragging us down. If only we could find each other, without a company blitzing us with an advertising campaign, telling us this is the flag you must fly, if you ever want to find anyone else who likes what you do. Until we can protect ourselves from the marketing machine, I remain divided about spoilers, because they wreck fandoms, and yet nothing of value was lost.
