@Megalith I think this thread is worth a bump.
First, I don't think there is nothing wrong about being elitist, even if he's not. We want others to be part of an elite and improve, and not levelling from the lowest or adapting to the lowest.
I think about it, and second Wallbeige’s concerns, which are rooted in preserving fairness and quality, not in asserting superiority. Even if de facto any artist, even the noob with mspaint will makje an effort higher than someone entering words to generate an image.
Machine Learning Generated creates a flood of bad content, forcing skilled artists to compete with quantity over quality. This isn’t about being "elitist", it’s about protecting the integrity of artistic spaces and ensuring that genuine craftsmanship isn’t drowned out by some automatized photoshop.
The comparison to Derpibooru’s policies also misses the mark. Advocating for a distinction between AI and human art isn’t about censorship or control; it’s about addressing fundamental differences in creation. Human art involves intentionality, emotion, and skill development, while AI art is the result of computational processes. These distinctions matter, and ignoring them undermines the contributions of human artists.
I would also add, as I see positivity in what you may see as AI elitism, that AI generators does use art mostly to create trash. Fancy ; but still trash, where an artist will understand exactly the aesthetic and value of every drawing, dedicating time to it, not a single AI image hold this value, or have the motivation. It is a mistake to allow the average retard to create and generate the same fetishes over and over and saturate an art site into degeneracy. What we are aiming to fight, really.
Then finally do we value creativity, or stagnation and reusing of other artists'art without credit in a socialistic ideal that anyone can create art. I think not, it has never been the point of this community, which remains to preserve art.
Your art is independent of the quality and worth of other art, which is why you should not advocate for a site for poor art, a site for amateur art, a site for intermediate art, and a site for master artists. You want them together not only for ease of access, but to show the quality of your work, gain recognition for your talent, and help others achieve the same.
Seconded but this oversimplifies the issue, let's not be naive, people don't even pay attention to tags. Also the AIsloppers have not the same ethics any creative will have, and that's a main concern. When boorus are flooded with AI images, the visibility of human-made art decreases. This isn’t really about competition; it’s about preserving spaces where human creativity is respected.
I second the idea others had about filtering or separating machine learning gens from actual art. It's not the idea of some AntiAI, it's the idea of AI people to have their own booru to begin with. And not Tantabus. They have Twibooru, but must we copy Twibooru and flood this site with AI
In the noise of rageful underageB&s who claims to replace every artists for being too greedy or selfish or whatever, some speak common sense and just want to keep it a hobby and be in peace with artists instead of creating conflict. Some want just to generate memes and fun stuff as a hobby, that's ok that's the very point of AI, hell even if you need ideas for something to draw it can be good for this. Having a separation would allow both AI and human artists to coexist without one undermining the other. It's like if borders exists for a reason.
Lastly, the suggestion that "effort is irrelevant" undercuts the entire foundation of art. Effort, intention, and craftsmanship are what make art meaningful. Ignoring this distinction risks reducing art to a purely visual product that can be generated from nothing.
That's my point of view but this is important to have this debate.
